Rediscovering JRiver, open live issue on V24.

David dP:
Hi all,

It's been a long time since I last wrote, here, because I had more or less given up on my HTPC, with it being a 4th gen i5 with IGPU, and seemingly not able to properly cope, for video playback, with JR version 24 that I had bought last year.

Well, to make a long story (or rather a lot of time spent) short, I found out that the whole problem was video sync between JRiver, Intel driver and my trusty old plasma...

Setting video output in JR to 50Hz instead of the native frequencies solved everything, and on that old PC, I'm now able to run ROHQ with Lanczos 4 taps on both chroma and image upscaling, in windowed mode, in FHD ! (Actually, Jinc even works for image upscaling, but I don't find the results that much better...). Bought a renewed license of AnyDVD, and I can once again consider taking my (high quality !) CD and Bluray players out of the picture completely ! YAY !!!

I still have one last issue I'd love to solve : When going to open live (FM tuner on the RME soundcard inputs, through JRiver, to RME output), the Steinberg ASIO multiclient (needed with the RME card) isn't in the list of ASIO devices. The strange thing is, that when I run JRiver v21, it does, and it works. Plus, as far as I can remember, it used to work under V24 too.

Am I missing something obvious ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

Cheers,
David

PS : If it can help anyone : Other setting needed to make the image stutter completely disappear, apart from the 50Hz vertical sync : Present 3 frames (and not more) in advance in madVR rendering.

Are you using the 64-bit version of Media Center 24? If so, try the 32-bit version instead as your ASIO driver might be 32-bit only.

David dP:
Thanks, I'll try that ! Would it explain why it works in JR21 ?

The list of ASIO devices in Open Live in JR21 shows : RME Fireface, Asio client (which is the one I want), JRiver 19, JRiver 21

The list of ASIO devices in Open Live in JR24 shows : RME Fireface, JRiver 19, JRiver 21, JRiver 24

Note that JRiver 19 isn't even on the computer anymore. How do I remove it from this list ?

Is there a limit of 4 devices in the list ?

That's a good guess.

Yes, Media Center was 32-bit only until Media Center 23 when experimental 64-bit builds was released.
