hey,

i am trying to get frame rate interpolation to work with a second AMD GPU (RX560). My primary GPU (RTX 2080) is doing well with madvr but can't do the framerate interpolation.

what i've done:

- setup the 2080 as primary video card and configured madvr
- installed the RX 560 and their drivers
- enabled AMD Fluid Motion
- installed Bluesky FRC (https://bluesky23.yukishigure.com/en/BlueskyFRC.html)

now i tried the custom video mode and added a LAV Filter so that the framerateconverter is used (i needed to actived the "global mode" of the Bluesky FRC).

The interpolation is working great. i get nice 4k 60hz videoplayback. Unfortunatly the HDR to SDR conversation of madvr is not working. I asume a LAV Filter can not deal with it.

Has anybody here a working configuration with 2 GPUs?
Any ideas what i can try next?

I don't understand what you are doing

How are you expecting to use 2 different GPUs in one system?

The first GPU is for rendering / upscaling. Basically completely for madvr.
The second GPU is only for frameinterpolation (24hz -> 60hz).

The “cheaper” 4K beamers don’t have the ability to do frameinterpolation.

The trick is to spent about 100$ and do the frameinterpolation on the pc side.

It could be done with one card and software like SVP (https://www.svp-team.com/), but the solution with the second card is better.

It works with MPC and other players.

I get what you want to do, I'm asking how you expect to use 2 GPUs in one system?

It is already working!
The Bluesky frame rate converter is configured to use the AMD card.
Madvr and JRiver use the primary gpu (in my case Nvidia).
I am only missing the hdr tone mapping.

BTW: it would be really nice if the to be used gpu is configurable within a zone.
The RTX Super cards can’t play 3d movies.
The solution would be to use the second hdmi port of the beamer with the second gpu.

RTX can play 3D ... need to use older drivers as newer one dropped 3D.

If using newer drivers ... can output 3D in 4K over/under ... there is no resolution lost as 3D is 1080p

did you set in MadVR option to tone map to SDR? Or you just set passthrough? ... it’s possible if you set passthrough (aka you expect display to do tone mapping), HDR metadata get loss while you do frame interpolation

PS. I personally hate watching movie in 60ps ... looks like soap opera
PSS. Some TV have already excellent frameinterpolation (my LG E6 do it nicely ... not that I use it lol)

I used to watch everything in 60fps, because I could. But I switched to watching video in its native fps, using MC Display Settings to switch as required, and it makes no difference to the visual quality, that I can notice. Use less resources as well.

I think you are chasing something that provides no benefit midrag.

If watching 23.97 stuff at 60 ... without doing anything else (is just repeating frames) ... there will be no visual differences apart from occasional stuttering because 23.97 is not exact multiple of 60

midrag is doing frame interpolation ... meaning extra 30 frames are not just repeated but interpolated based on previous and next frames ... result is smooth motion like TV sport or TV shows (hence soap opera effect) ... which I hate, but some like

Unfortunatly the older drivers are not compatible with the RTX SUPER cards :-(

Sounds interesting. I doubt my beamer will accept SBS 3D in 4K resolution. As of now i thought SBS was limited to 1080p (ending in a lower 3D resolution).

Update to main topic:
After updating the LAV-Filter to version 0.74.x HDR is working. Not as nice as it should but ok.

LG E6 accepts 4K Over/Under ... reason to use use Over/Under instead of SBS is MC overlays (sub/audio selection will be still usable ... one eye will see it ... but with SBS it’s all garbage ... one eye see one half another eye see another half)

Hello, I am trying to replicate your dual GPU configuration and I have reached the step where I can get the Radeon card to work with Bluesky Frame Rate Conversion e the RTX card to work with Madvr.

I am facing an issue where apparently the Radeon/Bluesky side cannot handle BT2020 and passes only on BT709 to Madvr.

Please, any thoughts ?
