Aspect Ratio question

mattkhan:
Do you use madvr? It has profiles that can react to the AR of the content so it might be able to do what you want.

bhampster:
Thank you again.

I will look into it. I used to use MadVR and also used it to create 3D LUT for much more detailed calibrations of my projectors.

I have also emailed HDFury to see if any of their processors do this type of thing. I’ve read they do not.

I’ll keep looking into it as I haven’t used an HTPC for video in a long time and most likely this is something that has been sorted out already.

mattkhan:
Look at the zoom control section in https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=259188 and then do the setup there under a profile rule like ar<2.3

What that means for 16:9 content is it would be scaled to fit within that 2.40:1 section window boxed on all sides. That means ultimately it stays in it’s OAR.

If you are outputting everything, then you just change your screen resolution. With Nvidia you use Desktop Resizing with a 1920x1080 resolution, in Intel it is Customize Aspect Ratio, and with AMD I think it is HDMI Scaling.

You also need to go to Tools > Options > Video > Advanced > Aspect Ratio Mode and set it to Crop.

I use MadVR and don't have to make any changes there.
