Losing USB DAC Connection When Using RDP Connection
« on: August 07, 2022, 08:45:54 pm »

Hello all,

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.  I have an old desktop functioning as a Win10 HTPC with a TV and some USB-connected Audioengine speakers with their own DAC.  I have a keyboard and mouse to use with the HTPC, but I'd like to just use Windows RDP to access it most of the time. However, I noticed that when I log in with RDP, the Audioengine speakers disappear for the duration of the RDP session.  When I log out, Windows "sees" the USB DAC again and everything is fine (well, except JRiver needs to be restarted because the preferred Audio Device disappeared for a bit and then reappeared.

What about using a RDP session might "turn off" or otherwise obstruct a connected USB DAC?

Thanks

In the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box click "Show Options" at the bottom.
Click the Local Resources tab.
In the Remote audio section click the Settings button.
Change Remote audio playback to "Do not play"
