MC 27 asking to record screen

I just installed MC 27 on a new MacPro (2013-2019) Opened yesterday and set some library preferences.  System Preferences message on screen states MC 27 requests permission to record the screen.  Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal.

I declined permission, seems to work anyway.

Why does MC27 (as the other versions before) need screen recording?

I believe it has something to do with theater view and/or video playback, unless I'm mistaken.
