Search slow and creates stuttering and very high CPU
RoderickGI:
Woooo. Stop what you are doing aliciaviola!
Jim touched on it, by saying Matt just needs the database. But to be clear, what you need to do is run the "File > Library > Back Up Library" function and email the zip file created to Matt.
Your Library refers to the MC Database, and not all of your media files. There is no way your MC Library is 100GB, compressed or not. You must be talking about your media files, and Matt doesn't need those.
Terminology...
aliciaviola:
Of course MB and not GB!!! Sorry about that. 98 MB for 253486 files/ 5,8 TB
But that's too big, also, for an attachment. I sent a message to Matt with a Google drive link for the backup.

RoderickGI:
;D ;D ;D That's better. Whew. :D
Matt:
Thanks for the library.
You have 253,486 files, so it's just a lot.
If you make search look at fewer fields, it would help. Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields > Turn off default search for comment, filename, description, and any others you don't need.
I also found Silicon Dust running over and over, which was slowing things down. That will be fixed in a coming build.
aliciaviola:
Yes, quite a lot - and it will be more in the future. Your advice to minimise the search fields didn't help. Up to version 27 I didn't have a problem, at least in this field.
There are only two action when the stuttering happens: while writing to the search field and when I quit MC. It must be something different. A problem with my Mac? it's not a new one: Mac Pro Mid 2010/ 2,8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon/ 48 GB 1066 MHz DDR3/ Mojave 10.14.6 (18G6032)/ Graphic: Radeon RX 570 4 GB/ 1 TB SSD as start and system volume + four HDD (two 3 TB, two 4 TB).
