Only a suggestion that came when I had to tag a large compilation:
it would be helpful if there could be a contextual menu for sorting disc numbers (as it is for track numbers).

Are you talking about the "Fill Track numbers from list order" right-click function?
How would a similar function apply to Disc numbers? Track numbers (or Episodes) increment for each file. Disc numbers only increment for each disc, and discs can contain a variable number of Tracks.

I meant just that. I today imported a 55 CD compilation where the Vol. numbers were written into the album field - and in this case it would have worked.
But I see that this rarely will be the case. So: forget the question.
