Hi all, I have tried Jremote2 on android. Any way to prevent it from transcoding WAV files to MP3? I've already selected the option to use native format. FLAC does not get transcoded so I know the option works but WAV files still get converted no matter the setting.

I saw your other post, but don't have an answer. It was discussed a bit in the early days of JRemote2, but can't find that discussion just now.

Anyway, probably Hendrik will have to answer that question, and he is on holiday until next week. Patience?

Not right now, nope. Native only works for FLAC, MP3, AAC in a M4A container and OggVorbis. You'd have to convert to FLAC to get it working that way.

Thanks my friend. Might there be an option for supporting WAV in the future as a container?  Only since a bulk of my music was ripped ages ago as straight 44.1 WAV using EACD. Like hundreds. Obviously no issues using JRiver at home, but the remote becomes a problem but if in a few months there might be an update to do wav, that would be awesome.

For the moment. JRemote2 uses a software player called ExoPlayer, which is extensible and configurable by App. I believe more formats will be supported in future.

Until then, listening to WAV transcoded to 320Kbps MP3s isn't so bad, particularly on a mobile device. Depends on the target device I guess.

ExoPlayer supports reading WAV files at least, I'll just have to make sure it'll also be able to read the audio inside the WAV container before enabling such formats with varying content.

A couple of thoughts based on comparison of iOS version

Metadata Editting , i find it useful to do odd edits when i come across them whilst listening rather than go to the PC server

In the Metadata screen in iOS if you tap on a tag say Composition , all Compositions with a match are brought up

How about a Home button, i often get several levels deep , it would be nice just to jump to home rather than repeated Backs

JRemote2 doesn't have a "home" though, it has a drawer which is accessible at any time by swiping on the left side of the screen from left to right.

I know this is an older thread, but a related question:  I'm streaming from my phone with jRemote2's Chromecast. My FLAC files play fine, at their bit rate and sampling. But ALAC files are transcoding to 320 Kbps. Is that normal or do I have a setting wrong?

  (My ALACs are all 16/44.1 from CDs, yes, from back in my iTunes days. It'd be a lot of files to convert to FLAC. It's an Android phone, MC 27.0.20 is on my Windows 10 PC. Interesting result, suggests this is a Chromecast/jremote (interacting?) issue, I think: I played the same ALAC song with JRemote closed, by selecting the same Chromecast device (DLNA) from the MC Playing Now list on the PC. Then when I opened jRemote2, it indicates that it's playing 16/44.)
