Ripping CD not working [Solved]

<< < (3/4) > >>

AlexS:
OK so I've tested some more. I still have the same symptoms, I am able to browse the network share on the menu via:
File -> Open media file.

I've now tested on a new PC (my laptop) and get exactly the same issues.

So lets summarise, on Windows 10:

1) I can rip a CD to a local hard drive without issue.
2) I can browse my network share via File -> Open media file.
3) I can browse my network share via Windows File Explorer.
4) I can't rip to my server via UNC path (\\server\music\cd) without "Unknown error from encoder", files do get written partially however on the server. The error message goes if I change from FLAC to WAV, occasionally it does do a successful rip. I never had this problem before.
5) Once I change the file path from UNC to local, I can't change it back (I can press OK but the file path does not persist).
6) Reproduced on multiple PC and windows installs.
7) Antivirus has been uninstalled.

BTW the server share accessed via UNC is a Synology Diskstation. No issue with disk space.

Very strange...!

Thx

AlexS:
OK some progress...

I mapped Z:\ to  \\myserver\music\cd, pointed the rip destination to the Z drive, and this works fine with FLAC.

So why the heck does the UNC path no longer work, and why can't I enter it into the field for the rip location? (like I was able to do before).

Thx

AlexS:
So I'm stuck.

Is it possible somebody could test (use this test case).
For each step please make sure the values you entered do not change afterwards...

a) Start MC.

b) Tools -> Options -> File Location -> Audio CD (Rips and Podcasts).... Change folder path to a local drive for ripping (e.g. C:\TEMP). Click OK twice.

c) Tools -> Options -> File Location -> Audio CD (Rips and Podcasts).... Change folder path to a UNC for ripping (e.g. \\192.168.1.30\Music\MyCD). Click OK twice.

d) Close and then Open MC.

e) Repeat steps (b) + (c).

f) See if you can rip a disc to your UNC path (Flac).

Let me know the version you tested it under... thx!

Anybody at all?
Thx.

AlexS:
I ripped a DVD today using DVDFab to the exact same path, no issues.
The more I look at this the more I think it's an issue with the application and not my environment, can somebody look at the steps in at my test case pretty please?
