Native DSD over a Network - not DoPE
« on: December 08, 2020, 04:00:36 am »

Hi

I am aware that JRiver supports streaming DSD via USB as DSD over PCM (DoP) and over ethernet (DoPE). I am also aware that native DSD can be streamed via USB using an appropriate ASIO driver.

However, I have a network DAC at acts as a UPnP client that only supports native DSD (it does not support DoPE) from a UPnP Server and curiously only supports DoP (not native DSD) via USB. So I can get this to work with JRiver via a USB connection but it would be nice to get this to work via the network instead.

I am assuming streaming native DSD from a JRiver UPnP Server is not currently supported (only DoPE) is this the case? Since many hardware media servers do support native DSD streaming over the network (e.g. Melco, IO Data, Naim etc) are there any plans to support this in the future?

Thanks

Ian

MC already supports native DSD over UPnP, I use it regularly.

I can only seem to get DoPE, what options do I need to set?

The only thing I can see is the option to Bitstream DSD (which I have selected) but it clearly states requires DoPE renderer which my DAC is not, it is only expecting native DSD streams not in a PCM container. Is there something I am missing?

Unchecking the Bitstream DSD (Requires DoPE renderer) actually allows native DSD to be sent using DLNA.

So, set Audio Mode is set to Original and uncheck the Bistream DSD in the DLNA setup.
