Has MC stopped using, writing to, the TOOL NAME & TOOL VERSION Tags?

Whilst testing a TrackInfo plugin I'm writing I've noticed that MC27 is not updating, or writing to, the TOOL NAME and TOOL VERSION Tags despite being told to do so. Is this intentional or have I uncovered a discrepancy in the Code?

Whilst on the subject of Tags The Amazon ASIN tag is set as "Cannot be edited" making it unusable.
