Using Spotlight to Open Media Center

(1/2) > >>

hoyt:
I typically use Spotlight to open apps.  I hit Command + Space, then type in part of the name.  It also works with abbreviations, so I can type MC and Media Center pops up in the list.  At least, it worked using MC until somewhat recently.  Now, I have to type Media to get MC to show in the list.  Abbreviations still work with other apps on my mac (AM = Activity Monitor).

Has this changed for anyone else recently?  I feel like it changed without me upgrading/ changing MC, so I'm guessing it's a change from Apple that caused it.  I'm just so used to opening by typing Command+space, mc, enter.

Thanks!

I had never tried this before but I just did. <CMD>-<Space> then typed "MC" and my MC27 came right up. Have you tried to re-index Spotlight?

hoyt:
I just rebuilt the index, but still no MC in the listing.  Very strange.  I'll have to investigate how finder makes that index of applications...

HaWi:
Yeah, that's weird. I never use Spotlight since I got Alfred installed.

Well that is neat...  Just installed Alfred and typing MC works in there and it has a ton more things to play with.  Thanks for that idea!
