How do i restore the save file option when watching a Youtube video.

I believe you press CTRL while clicking on the video.

thanks for that.
I have another problem with Youtube. When playing a youtube clip and have download the file and add it to my library ticked then click okay no file is saved. When i check it shows as failed.

Some YouTube videos are encrypted, e.g. VEVO videos, and they can't be directly downloaded. In those cases you'd have to use something like youtube-dl to download them.

Here is another possibility to download videos from YouTube - you need VLC Media player:
Find your video on YouTube
Copy the link
Open VLC Media Player
Go to: Media > Open Network Stream...
Paste the link and press play
Press Control+I and you see the file location on the bottom
Right click on this link > Select All > Copy
Open your browser and paste this link to play the video
Right-click on the video and save it

That's it

For extracting just the audio I'm using Audacity
