Open Streaming File - "Please Select File to
« on: April 10, 2003, 08:55:48 am »

When I select File>Open Streaming File, and input a streaming video source within our companies intranet, Media Center prompts me with a warning, "Please Select File(s) to play!"
This streaming source plays fine in WMP, and in Jukebox 8.
Is MC9 expecting the streaming file to have an extension such as '.asf' or '.wmv' to determine the correct codec?
the URL (local) is mms://example/live
Help??

Open Streaming File: "Please Select File to p
« Reply #2 on: April 11, 2003, 05:20:20 am »

I just tried opening the URL, and MC9.147 gave me a warning "PLEASE SELECT FILE TO PLAY!".

So it's not fixed.  Sorry.

I purchased Media Center yesterday because this problem was the last major problem I had with Media Center, and was promised it would be fixed in the next version.

Bummer.  Still depending on Windows Media Player to play my live feeds.

jzaehring,

The problem with MMS streams is fixed, but you found another problem. MJ does not recognize the file because it was entered into MC's database as a DATA file instead of AUDIO. So now MC has file info in it's DB and ignores new data received from our fixed parser.

We will fix this problem in the next build.

I'm getting the same problem. The same error is being displayed "please select file(s) to play"

When I paste the same link into "windows media player" it works. This is the link I'm using: mms://mediastreaming.cybernet.be/contactnl

I'm now using version 9.0.145 under windows Me, same version under wind. XP but problem persists.

It used to work with "Media Jukebox 8.0"

Help !

Mr.Cluster,

MMS is a separate problem and will be fixed in next build.

geo,

Both links that you provided work for me.
Can anybody else reproduce the problem?

In any case, try new build (9.0.147)

Nikolay

Hi,

I just installed the latest version 147. Still the same results:   "please select file(s) to play"
with this stream : mms://mediastreaming.cybernet.be/contactnl
probably with other "mms" streams too. So the problem doen't seem to be resolved. WMP9 play's them right.
