NEW: ReRip

We're adding a new feature in MC 27.0.68 or above.  It allows you to re-rip a CD.  If you've already ripped it, MC will tell you that it's been done before, then, if the original is lower quality, it will ask if you'd like  to use the metadata (cover art and tags) from the previous rip, and (optionally) to remove the original.

This is for people who initially ripped to a lossy format like MP3, but later decided to rip to a lossless format like FLAC.

It also serves to warn you if you're ripping a CD for the second time.

The first part (checking for a previous rip) is working already in 27.0.58.  The second part (copying metadata from the previous rip) is coming soon.

Mans:
Great idea, nice and practical feature !
Thanks.

David Sydney:
Thanks JimH

I am definitely in that category!

Nice idea!

How do you test & compare the quality?
How what is considered same CD?

We don't compare quality.  That's up to you.

We look at what you have in your library.  If the Album and Artist match, we warn you (because you may have ripped it before) and ask you what you want to do.
