WASAPI Crackling and Popping
« on: January 29, 2021, 10:30:12 am »

I prefer to use WASAPI for its ability to playback at a higher volume
ASIO playback volume is low
Direct sound volume is lower still.
When I use WASAPI at a 35% or higher volume there is a lot of popping and crackling.
Setup is as follows
MC 27
Realtek ALC1220 codec built on a Gigabyte Z370 motherboard, using only the optical out
DAC Shiit Modi 3 using optical
Amp Schiit Magni 3+, volume set at 50% using low gain
Thanks
Marc

Thanks Dawgincontrol.  Allot to look at. I’ll report back.
Great playlist by the way.

I nothing worked except using a USB connection instead of optical.  That is the only way I bypass the Realtek onboard sound.  WASAPI worked fine.  The volume is a little lower using USB vs optical, but it is louder over all.

Thanks
