JRiver Media Center 27.0.62 Silicon/Intel BETA for Mac -- Available here
Hendrik:
Long-term we definitely favor one version that works everywhere, as it makes it easier for us and for users to pick the right one.
bob:
And when we move to the universal build the minimum MacOS will be 10.11 El Capitan.

--- Quote from: Awesome Donkey on February 10, 2021, 09:56:44 am ---I would suspect that once the universal app has been well beta tested and it comes out with all issues related to the ARM version fixed that it'll replace the Intel-only version of Media Center. But I also suspect the full replacement won't happen soon.
Until then, my guess is there will be both the universal app release that's in beta testing and a "typical" Intel-only release, until the next major Media Center version. This makes sense as Macs are transitioning to ARM and it'll have to happen eventually. IMO the 20MB increase in size is fine (I honesty would've thought it'd be much more than that) as-is the extra decompression time. Considering many Mac apps are upwards of 200MB (web browsers, image editing apps, etc.) I think it's perfectly reasonable.

Yeah I am not sure exact size differences but in real-world use the entire process takes about twice as long for me to download and install Universal binaries it seems whatever those internal differences look like on paper the end result is about a 2x longer process which adds up across all users when a new version is available once or twice a month.

I seem to have done my normal upgrade process, and in turn, am realizing a bug. Over the weekend I was not having this issue.
Running the most current version of Big Sur 11.2.1 (which I updated after the bug materialized from 11.1.1), my screen saver is coming on during full screen video play, both in Theater View and Display View (tried to toggle the behavior in theater view as well). Super annoying, as I have to turn my screensaver off to watch a movie. This is happening on both monitors, as well as my laptop so it is not isolated. Intel based Macs all around.
Interestingly enough, I have downgraded to 27.0.58, 27.0.57, and now 72.0.22 but the problem persists.

Try turning on the Tools->Options->Audio->Disable display from turning off (useful for hdmi audio) and see if the behavior changes. Report back please.
