Question about Okto DAC8 and JRiver
« on: January 20, 2021, 09:52:38 am »

Hello everyone.

I don't know if this is the right section...
The DAC in question has a function with which it takes a multichannel signal (x8) AES/EBU, sends it to a PC via USB, and receives the signal processed by the PC via THE SAME USB, to then convert it and send it to the 8 outputs.
JRiver is able of simultaneously manage input and output on the same USB (with Windows and Linux operative system...) ?

Thanks a lot!!!
Best regards
Marco

Hi

yes JRiver can do that. I use at the moment JRiver MC26.0.107

How:

JRiver on PC
Use a USB ADC and DAC, I use RME UFX or UFX II.
Input for example from Windows (via Open Live, WASAPI), youtube, browser, Spotify etc.
Input from RME via analog or digital Inputs: via Open Live, ASIO

Note: somehow its possible to swith automatically between WASAPI and ASIO however I coul not figure out how..

I use Windows and it works no problem.

I can even Play with JRiver and record with for example SoundforgePro at the same time via the RME UFX, UFX II. All signals go over the same USB,  in and out (64 channels).

Okto DAC8: I do not know if this device can do it. Looks like its only DAC not ADC and DAC? Right?
