Simple Playlist update question
« on: April 10, 2003, 08:50:47 am »

Will MC playlists automatically update when I edit files in the media library?

For example, if I take a bunch of files and have the library organize them under Artist/Album at the file system level, will existing playlists be able to find them after the move/rename?

Yes ma'am. Any file modified (say tags) and saved will show those changes no matter what view or list it appears in.

Thanks for the answer.

Just to clarify, I am talking about changing the file's name and/or location on the physical disk, not changing it's tags.  That usually is the difference maker with other applications--updated tags in the file are not problem, moving the file (using their library) doesn't update the location in all playlists.

If MC truly does handle this, I might just wait until after 4/11 to buy it just to give them more money :).

As long as you use MC to move or rename files, then any list the file appears in will be updated as well.

Jim would appreciate it. I think he wants to pick up an ivory backscratcher.
