Feature Request: Better Support for Classical Music

<< < (10/15) > >>

PhDSM:
Here is my contribution to this subject

I've been able to tag most of my Classical library (over 15000 tracks) using existing fields and add a few more  like opus,  composition, composition type, composition #,ToneNote(A..F) , ToneAlteration (Sharp/Flat), ToneType(Maj/Min), ....
You can do a lot from there, however one key missing feature is the one mentionned at the begining of this subject, which is to have the ability to treat composition as relational item like for Album.

It's been several days, so I wanted to make one more check...

Are there any further comments, suggestions, or messages of support or dissent for the latest version of the proposal?

There is no automation included, so all users will have to manually fill the [Composition] field or write their own expressions to do so.

SUPPORT IN MC FOR COMPOSITIONS:

1. The ability to treat a Composition as a unit.

2. Recognize the user-defined Composition field.  All tracks on the same album that have a common Composition field shall be considered part of the same Composition.

3. Composition support in Playlists and Smartlists

4. In Views file list (bottom pane) and playlists/smartlists, be able to expand/contract Composition as with Stacks

5. Compositions can have ratings, and composition stats (rating, duration, etc) are accessible from the search language like with tracks, to support "Files to include" in views and lists.

6. Compositions can have relational fields, like an Album can.

I support this version of the proposal.

+1 from me on this proposal as well. I'm also good with any [Composition] automation too, just in case that ever comes back to the table.

MikeO:
I agree with the above , there is simply too much variation to automate much.
