New Install Media Center 27 hangs on switching libraries - WORKAROUND
ratmice:
Just installed the latest version from the forum, added my registration info, restored libraries, and restarted. Cannot switch libraries, app hangs.
Also tried reinstalling MC27 with no luck.
So, I have removed MC27 and deleted it's library file multiple times now with no luck. If I open up MC24 (which I am trying to upgrade from) everything works fine. I even made new backup ZIPs from 24 and tried those with no luck.
Super frustrating, and a huge waste of time so far.
Really don't want to rebuild all the libraries as that would take days.
JimH:
How long did you wait? How many files in the libraries? Wher are the files?
ratmice:
I waited a while (maybe 15 minutes) just the spinning beach ball and no response to anything but forced shutdown. There are a total of three libraries, one has 1500 files, the largest has 177k. The files are located on my NAS. The files that are in the library loaded by MC when it starts up are all present and play normally, just can't switch to a different library.
Even while MC27 is hung, MC 24 can access all files, and switches libraries in, at most, 3 seconds.
JimH:
Turn off any analysis. NAS drives can be slow. Did you use File > Library > Restore? Was the backup also from a Mac?
ratmice:
yes, all analysis was turned off. I used the restore button that appears for a loaded library when choosing it from the lefthand sidebar. It is the same computer (Mac) that made the backup in MC 24, that I am attempting to upgrade to MC27.
It seems that after restoring the main library, I can access the other 2 (initially empty) libraries in order to restore them, but that once the last restore is done, I can then no longer switch to any other library.
