How to rename the library from library 20 to 21 or for future proofing how to name it simply library

Each version of MC stores a folder called Library within a folder that uses the "Media Center nn" naming convention where nn is the version number
So version 20 will use the Library in the Media Center 20 folder and version 21 will use the Library in the Media Center 21 folder. MC is set up that way to allow the user to have more than one version of Media Center on the same computer and changing any of those Folder Names will cause MC to Malfunction.

You can put the library anywhere you want and call it anything you want. Yes, the default is to put it in a folder with the current version number in it, but you're not forced to use that. Great thing about the program, it's configurable.

To change the name as displayed in JRiver just find the library in Playing Now and select "Rename this library".

english Tiger,
What you are saying is not quite correct as when upgrading to 27 from 26 restoring a backup uses the same library

Not sure you are both on the same page. What EnglishTiger is saying is correct. Click on the Playing Now / Playing from ... line on the left and you are given several options on screen. You can rename the Library to anything you want. You can clone the library and specify a new name and path (not the AppsData tree). Once you are happy running MC logged int the new library and everything cam across ok, you can delete the one stored in the AppData tree that concerns you so much. You may have to manually move some cover art if you do not have them stored within the tags.

Yes and you can create one and store it in what ever folder path you like. Mine sits in my Documents folder tree and is on my data drive D: not C:AppData....

To move it you have to Clone it first in a new location. then Use that as the library loaded. Then delete the original library which is a folder with ~ 200 files stored in it.
