Display settings on Ubuntu 20.10

Hello everybody,
i tried to use jriver with ubuntu 20.10, but i always have a problem with display settings.
I can't change the resolution, neither automatically nor manually.
I can only see videos at Desktop resolution.
where is the mistake?
