This functionality would be similar to the show / hide zones. 

Why needed?   

If you have multichannel and two channel versions of files perhaps some of the clients can only play 2 channel music. For those clients it makes no sense to display the multichannel views. 

Some of the clients cannot play video, so it makes no sense for any video related view to display. 

It would facilitate creation / display of those views for which the user of a client machine has interest.  Other views could simply be hidden.

It simplifies the client's UI if there are multiples of views created on the server

Would also be nice if this could be extended to JRemote.
