Single record label compilation albums
« on: May 21, 2021, 07:08:14 pm »

Funny how I almost never dip into 'Albums'...always looking at 'Artists'. The thing is...that means I never really get to notice/play any of the compilations that are tucked away in 'Albums'. And I really like those Alligator and Blind Pig record label compilation/samplers. So, what to do? Simple: tag them with 'Album Artist' as 'Alligator Records' or 'Blind Pig', so, although multiple-artist albums, they are there and ready along with all the artists they represent/sample that are in 'Artists' anyway. Wonder why I never thought of that before.

I never use Various Artists or Multiple Artists as Album Artist tags for this very reason.

So, regarding Album Artist, what do you use for a compilation album where every track is a different artist?

I'll use something about the subject or the genre of the album.

Eg.  50's Artists, Smooth Jazz Artists, Motown Artists, Chess Artists, Alligator Artists, Christmas Artists, etc.

Makes it very easy to find.
