White screen
JimH:
Could you try Debian?
The desktop could be the problem.
We haven't had other reports of your problem.
Awesome Donkey:
I just tested it on Arch Linux using an AMD Radeon RX 580 GPU with the latest Mesa and Theater View loads fine. As it's loading for a split second it does appear white but then it appears normally, so something's not right in your setup.

I also haven't seen anything like this on Arch or Debian, with AMD or Intel graphics. I've tested in Gnome and KDE on Arch, and can't reproduce.
Is this happening on a clean install with no imported or existing library? If you haven't tested on a completely fresh MC install you should try that as there might be a library setting hanging things up. If it doesn't happen on a clean default install, then try to isolate what settings might be in play. For example, do you have MC configured to launch into theater view? If so try launching to standard view and manually switching to see if that might be a way to isolate the issue.
MM_switcher:
Hi gents.
I tried with a fresh install of Kubuntu 21.04 and a new installation of MC V27. Same results
But as recommended in an other thread, I disabled "Show on screen instructions" and now Theater View starts. Unfortunately not in full screen but like attached.
I'm not primarily interested in Theater View, but in a possibility to use the program with a touch device. Sadly MC doesn't offer any good user experience for that. Or did I miss something? Looks like I have to stay with MC23 on the touch device and use MC27 for the rest.
JimH:
You could use Panel for touch screen. There's a wiki topic.
