Will JRiver 27 stream ATMOS?

As far as I know this won't work if you're trying to use Atmos audio files. Atmos bitstreaming only works with video, as far as I know.

I wonder if renaming the file as mp4 might work.

Probably not - the Atmos data is carried in the sub-channels that other formats either do not use or use in a different way.

What they probably did was use MakeMKV https://www.makemkv.com/ to rip/extract the individual files from the BlueRay Disc to individual video files on the PC.

I used that method to extract the Files from the DVD that accompanies the 50th Anniversary Edition of the Beatle Abbey Road Album.

Not only is it legal one of the new features in MC 28 will be the ability to initiate that ripping from inside MC.
