When importing files many artist names are duplicated.

When I import files to my JRiver many of the artists names are duplicated like this: Amanda Marshall;Amanda Marshall. Some times it creates 2 different files as in:
Amanda Marshall and another sepearat file Amanda Marshall;Amanda Marshall, therefore not all off the artist albums are not in the same group. Any ideas on how to fix this without going to change names on several hundred artist?
