MC 28 Refuses to Play Files
« on: September 12, 2021, 12:37:50 am »

I've been running JRiver since MC 17 with no major problems, but I recently upgraded from MC 25 to MC 28 and it will not play files on my Mac Mini 10.15.7, but rather gives me the message ' Playback could not be started on the output 'Core Audio' using the format '44.1 kHz 2ch' in fact I tried other rates, but it would not play any of them. The only small problem I ever had before was after I installed an Uptone isoRegen Audio earlier this year and MC 25 would crash from time to time, but it would always work fine once it was restarted. I also made sure that MC 28 had permission to record the screen. Do any of you have a possible solution to this playback problem?

Today I decided to install MC 27 to see if I could get any better results with regard to the simple playback of flac files, but I got the exact same message. Fortunately MC 25 still works.

Have you tried changing the audio output under MC's Options > Audio > Audio Device section?

Thank you so much for your Awesome reply. I followed your instructions and found my DDC listed in the audio device settings and after choosing it MC 28 is now working great!
