cannot re-access trial version (but MC 27 works correctly)
ncjay:
First time user here. I appear to have made a complete mess of my Media Center 28 trial installation - from download to hitting a brick wall all within an hour or so. Here’s what happened:
- did a fresh install and attempted to import my iTunes .xml library
- Media Center appeared to completely hang. I force-quit the application after 15 minutes or so. And I repeated this at least twice more.
- When I restarted Media Center the splash screen told me my trial period had expired (?!) and asked me if I wanted to extend the trial. I agreed, and got the extension code immediately.
- I entered the code, hit “Continue” (I think that’s what the button said), and Media Center closed.
- I started it up again and it told me the trial period had expired….and this time there was no offer to extend the trial; only Purchase, Find License, Restore License, and Cancel.
Is there a way I can recover my installation so I can evaluate this product?
I’ve pasted a copy of my ~/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 28/Settings/User Settings.ini file, if that might help, below.
Thanks
ncjay

Awesome Donkey:
Unfortunately once the trial has expired there's no way to extend it. If you have a second Mac or a PC to try it on, that'd be the way to go.
ncjay:
Thanks - unfortunately, my only other Mac is too old to run a modern version of OS X.
But why would my trial version expire after only one hour of use?
Thanks

AGAWA:
perform your trial on MC27; not far away from MC28. At least you will get a feel of this splendid product.
I had the same problem.
ncjay:
Thanks - it didn't even occur to me to try that.
However I'm doing my eval on a windows machine i have here. It's not my preferred platform - I wanted to do a direct import of my iTunes Library.xml on the Mac instead - however I've completed a sed script that massages the exported Mac xml to work on the windows machine. And I'm liking what I see.
So maybe there actually is a problem with the OS X trial version.
Thanks
