Solved - MC28 - Error pop-up refering to MC27
« on: August 24, 2021, 12:29:49 pm »

Great day all,

Since some days I'm receiving the following error message as popup in MC28, even over the Theatre View screen:

Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 28\MC27.exe can't be find
Every day at the same time.
MC continues playing, but the message most be closed in order to get rid of it.

First noticed since .49.
Today updated to .53 and still generating this error.

MC is fully functioning as before.
Using MC onto this machine, since MC25 without an error.
MC28 has been excluded by Defender has been configured as adviced.

Tried several library restore points, even some out of 2020. Error still coming back.

Removed MC28 completely and reinstalled, no difference.
Reinstalled also MC27, rebooting, deleted MC27 completely, same error popup in MC.

Any clues or stuff to check ?

Thanks !

We don't reference that executable directly. Maybe you have a custom command or anything like that setup back from MC27 that needs updating?

Many thanks Hendrik, your reaction started my thinking ... reference, custom command and bingo !

I've got into the MC Scheduler a nightly library backup task setup: /MCC 20011,1.

After upgrading to MC28 i forgot to manually update the path, my task was still using: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 27\MC27.exe

My bad !

Off topic, but would it be possible to keep the structure identical even after upgrading to another version of MC ?
Like copying the old install to another folder, so the structure stays always the same ?
Guessing like MS does, if memory serves me well.

FYI as i also use lots of Eventghost commands, there's some amount of adjusting when upgrading MC.

Thanks !
