Skips; stuttering

MC28 seems to give me more more skips/stutters than the previous version. Are there settings in MC28 or MacOS Big Sur that would minimize the problem?

It's no more prone to skips.

What are you playing?  To what?

al1947:
almost all FLAC. Maybe 30-40% HD; rest CD quality

MC28 on iMac Big Sur 11.5.1 (20G80)... outputting via USB to Focal ARCHE DAC, playing on headphones or powered speakers
