I have  a Rio 500 which is recognized and works just fine--Both internal and external memory is listed in the tree.  My problem is this:  When I select a file and right click Send to Device-->Rio 500, it doesn't give me a choice of internal or external memory.  The internal fills up first, and if I have sent a bunch of songs to the device, I don't know of a way to put them on the external memory.  Also, I cannot "drag and drop" files to the device at all.

My system:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2399 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 785 MB, Free - 565 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)

You should be able to drag and drop files onto the device. The trick is that you must drop them on a folder in one of the memory types (i.e. Internal or External). The Rio 500  Requires a subfolder that you will need to create. To do this, right click on the memory type and do "Add folder". Once you do this successfully, the "Send-To" will remember the last path you dropped to. For example, if you drop a file on a folder in External Memory, the next time you Send-To the file will go to this folder.

Thanks.  If you could drag and drop from the queue, though (to either internal/external), that would be the biggest help of all...I don't suppose that's doable, is it?

Let's say I select about 25 files and right click Send to Device-->Rio 500.  I now have 25 files in the queue, all that are tagged as going to upload to the internal memory of my device (64Mb.)  

Bear in mind that the files are too many to fit on the internal card.  However, I also have 64Mb free on the external card, so I would like to drag some of the files that are queued for internal from the right pane and drop them on the external memory-->My music folder in the left pane under devices/handhelds.

This way, I dont have to right click on individual files and send to either external or internal memory; I can do it from the queue.  Or, I could always just buy an iPod!

How would you feel about dropping the files on the appropriate folder to begin with rather than using SendTo?  

Does that seem too cumbersome?

This is the way we would recommend, but let me know what you think.

Certainly, dragging and dropping works...I'll run with that.  It would be great, though (and maybe I'm just being picky,) to be able to choose where to send the file by right clicking, rather than scrolling down a long list of files like I have to get to the Handhelds.  

Great program, though...The best out there!

On another, albeit somewhat related topic, if you were to choose between the iPod and the Creative Zen, which would you go with?  Do either have any known isues with MJ 8?

I am not at liberty to say. It is a great question to post in a general thread and let people chime in.

In regards issues with MJ8, the iPod Plug-in is only compatible with MC9 because of an introduction of many new features unavailable in MJ8.

Both players have good features and are good solutions with MJ/MC.
