Crashes caused by updating to Monterey or the latest Catalina
bob:
It appears that these upgrades added a Privacy and Security level that didn't exist previously.
If you get a crash on start after these upgrades you can first check
System Preferences->Privacy and Security->Input Monitoring
Adding MC28 there is necessary to allow it to monitor the Media Keys.
You can also check System Preferences->Privacy and Security->Files and Folders
to make sure MC has access to the places where you have your media.
Also check System Preferences->Privacy and Security->Accessibility
MC uses this permission for dealing with retina monitors.
Finally check System Preferences->Privacy and Security->Screen Recording
MC uses that permission to be able to copy screen data from within itself to another place within itself.
If these are all OK and MC still crashes, reinstall MC from either the download page for the current stable version or from the top post in this forum for the latest version.

I followed all advices, inclusive a new installation but every time when I use F6 to move a file to another location MC 29.0.103 MC crashes.
aliciaviola:
Forgot to mention: MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
JimH:
The last file in previouslog.txt has a very long file name.
/Volumes/WD ELEMENTS/Musik/Oper, Operette, Musical/Figaro_Walshe_Howarth_Brady_vanEssen_Olivera_Kapeller_Eggert_Schneiders _Cilona_Steier_Hannover2022/[Titel] (1).flac
And it appears to be on a USB drive.
The information you've got in the filename might be better in the tags.

I am working on a Mid 2010 MacPro with 48 GB Ram and a Radeon(Metal able) Graphic Card. It's not an USB drive but one of four hard drives that are built-in - plus one SSD as start volume for programmes and system in one of the free HDI ports.
The crash not only happens with long-name-files but with short one's, too. Even if I start the moving process and cancel it before moving the file MC is crashing. There is no problem to copy the files from a HDD to another and then to import it to MC. And I never had a problem with long file names.
I will try whether a downgrade will work.
Appended is the log of last crash with another file.
