It seems that DTS CDs play fine using MC9's ASIO output as long as all DSP options are unticked.  Unfortunately I am quite addicted to the Replay Gain feature, so if I want to listen to a DTS CD (rip) then I have to go into the DSP manager, turn off RG, play the DTS CDs, and then remember to turn on RG again afterwards.  This works, but means that I can't just include DTS CD rips into any old playlist.

J River - any chance of giving MC9 the ability to detect "DTS CD" format, and in this case automatically disable all DSP?  This would be really great if it's not too hard to do.

This actually raises some logical issues (I am guessing here) as DTS CD's are going to be played as purely a passthrough...

Without DTS licencing (and an encoder) they should not be able to manipulate the bitstream...

Are you outputting your DTS CD's via analogue of SPDIF ?? Also are they 2ch or 5.1ch ??

OK Phreddy and I talked on email and he's in total agreement with me - this needs to be fixed in order to properly support DTS CDs.  BTW, this doesn't affect AC3 or DTS Video, only DTS CDs (whether played from CD or ripped doesn't make any difference).

Someone with a lot more knowledge about this than I have may be able to tell us if it would be possible to somehow modify a DTS CD WAV file to set the "non-audio" bit, which would thereby disable DSP and would be an acceptable fix for my purposes at least.

Otherwise, J River - any thoughts?

Does anyone here know how to detect a DTS signal?  If not, does anyone have some DTS CDs and some WAV-editing software?  I assume that the first hundred samples or so follow some sort of simple pattern that you can easily detect, to indicate that it's DTS.
