TV Problem
« on: March 21, 2003, 07:13:41 am »

When I activate the TV, I can get sound, but nothing shows up except a blank screen.  I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or a something to do with MC, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help me out either way.

I'm using an ATI TV Wonder VE for the tuner, and the graphics card is a Radeon 9500 pro.  To my knowlege, each has the most up to date drivers available.

Thanks,
~Bryan

Does ATI Multimedia Center work?

What are the versions of your drivers?

ATI Mediacenter produces the same results.  Guess its a hardware issue...

The drivers for the tuner are 6.13.0.2408
The drivers for the video card are 6.14.1.6307

It seems funny that there would be a conflict when both cards are from ATI...

Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling drivers would help.

FWIW, I can only get a picture when the 'Time-shifting' mode is enabled

(This is with a different card, but the cause may be identical)

Yaobing,

Any idea on this thread. The input is line-in. Do you mute the line-in or the tv card? Perhaps muting the line in would achieve the same results and be easier.

Ross,

I still have not gotten time to revisit that issue yet. I do mute Line-In. I will check the timing of mute. I did notice at one time that muting a line is a quite slow process.

Eiffel,

Please try "Video Preview Pin ..." on Advance Properties, and experimenting with settings there.

Yaobing,
May be related to the line-in mute problem, but when I put the tv into time shifting mode the line-in is not muted and the sound comes out of the wave out device as well. The wave out sound is behind the line-in sound. This is what you would expect I suppost you are recording the line-in on the fly and then playing the recording vie wave out. But the line-in is not muted. Looks like your code can't mute the line-in period, or it is this timing issue you mentioned.

Thanks for the help and if you want me to try anything give me a shout.

Ross,

This is not the timing issue. Do you have a Soundblaster Audgy card?

Someone solved this problem by reinstalling the sound card driver.

I have a soundblaster live 5.1 card. I will try re-installing the latest drivers...

Yaobing,
I reinstalled the creative drivers to no avail, I tried the KX asio drivers and it worked with these. There must be a setting in the creative stuff that i am missing but I can't find it or think what it would be.
The problem with the KX drivers is excessive noise when I do any window movement, i.e minimise a window, use the scroll wheel on the mouse in a window pane etc. I thought asio was apart from the os. I have checked for windows system sounds and they are not enabled for the specified events.
