Reproduction As Music Player (Optimal Settings?)
Fantasound:
I downloaded and installed 28 on my MacMini.
I then performed an A/B comparison of my existing installation of Audirvana and JRiver (using 192/24 music files) and I'm wondering if I do not have JRiver properly optimized for music. I have a healthy library of high resolution music files and it almost sounded like JRiver downrezed the music. JRiver sounded far less detailed and open.
I’m not an advocate of Audirvana and was hoping to find an alternate. I do like the JRiver interface and that it should work well with my Fiio.
I'm thinking I've missed some setting or maybe my DAC is not compatable?
Any suggestions?
(Mini is connected to DAC via USB, DAC to amplifier via RCA jacks.)
JimH:
Could be the volume setting.
Fantasound:
Thanks. I did make sure the volume was same for each app.
It was more a quality thing. Does JRiver downres files? Or, is there a way to check it's output settings to see for myself?
JimH:
In the upper right corner, there's an audiopath option. It will tell you what's happening.

Using USB, does JRiver alter my music files in any way before being processed by my DAC?
