MC29 slow response to user input - Linux Mint

Linux Mint  20.2  Cinnamon

Installed MC29.0.26 with  Black on Black skin..

It takes 5 to 30 seconds for the program to respond to a mouse.

The rest of my system responds at normal speed, while MC29 is responding extremely slow to user input.

Is there a problem using MC29 on Mint 20.2 ??

If no problem on Mint,  does anyone have an idea as to what may be happening?
