MC 29 seems to lock output devices

The Muffin Man:
I'm running MC 29 on a MBP M1.
I can play music fine from the library, however if MC is up (not even playing) it seems to lock the output device.
In other words, if I'm playing through my headphones, all other sound plays back through the built-in speakers.
Ideas?

Google "Exclusive Mode" audio.  You can uncheck it in MC settings for audio.
