I have here a sample file, 1.8Gb, an MKV with video and 16 channels of discrete decoded Atmos.
Please dl and try it out.

Apparently, this plays perfectly with MC on Mac.

On Windows however, we get this error message:

Additional information about this test track:
Video: H.264
Audio: 16 channels, 24/48 LPCM little endian
Muxer: MKVToolNix

also fails on my windows (10) setup with same error

Ok, simple (?) question to the devs and other audiogurus:

Is it at all possible to play more than 8-ch in a combined AV container on Windows as opposed to Mac/Linux, who apparently can..?
Or is there a limitation in Windows that's impossible to get around..??

There is no "fundamental" issue with 16 channels, its just rather uncommon to have any audio files over 8 channel, and many components don't deal with it properly.
We're looking into it, but it might be a bit.

Hey mate, any idea what the lineage is here? Retail Atmos from a disc converted to 16ch?

I didn't think the Dolby Atmos decoder / renderer worked with already encoded retail tracks?
