JRiver Panel not accessible when Mac is locked
« on: July 02, 2022, 08:12:45 am »

Hi all,

This seems to be new behaviour because it's only started happening after I upgraded from MC 25 to MC 29. I use the JRiver Panel to remote control MC using remote browsers a lot. But now, when my Mac locks (it is set to require password after the screen saver kicks in), the panel no longer responds until I wake up the screen and enter my password. As I say: this didn't use to happen with MC 25. Is there a new setting somewhere that I can't find to enable web access when locked?

Thanks in advance,

Baz

It sounds like the Mac is sleeping, as opposed to simply locked.  In the Energy Saver or Battery settings, you might want to check "prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off" and "wake for network access".

You could also temporarily disable sleep, or disable "turn off display".

I suspect that MC25 did things that made the Mac think that it was not supposed to sleep while MC25 was running and perhaps MC29 is not doing those same things so the Mac thinks it's ok to sleep now.  This is speculation.

Good luck.
Brian.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I'll tweak some settings and report back.
