Server removes files after client download

I have my media center set up as a server on a dedicated computer, connecting my main computer as a client. Starting a few weeks ago, the server has been removing files from the library if they are downloaded onto my main computer, which I do fairly often.

The files themselves still exist in my server computer’s directory, and if I re-import them they will retain the metadata they had before disappearing, but rescanning will not bring them back and it’s a PITA to re-import multiple specific files manually per day. Anyone had similar experience?
