Google TV

dennismf:
I have been using JRiver for Windows for many years on my HTPC. I have just ordered a new Sony X95J television with Google TV.

I am hoping that I can use the "JRiver for Android" on the "Google TV" to present my existing media library on the new TV; while using my existing J"River for Windows" to manage the library and play content on the old HD television.

Will JRiver for Android run in a useful manner on Google TV?

If so, are there any limitations beyond a similar arrangement based solely on "JRiver Media Center for Windows"?

Thanks and Regards.

Google TV is just a name change. The OS is the same. It's still Android. Presumably Google felt getting good old Google out there on millions of TVs had more advertising weight than Android.

JimH:
Google TV is a name change from Android TV, which was originally Google TV.

It's a special version of Android.

JRiver for Android runs on some devices that use it, like the NVIDIA Shield.

I don't know what will happen if you can install it on the Sony, but it's worth a try.

I would really like to know if people are having success with running MC for Android on Sony Google TVs before I buy one!

Thx

If your library is in your PC you could give MO 4Media remote a go. It works under AndroidTV and you can try limited version for free
