Replay Gain Suggestions
« on: March 11, 2003, 07:28:37 pm »

I was fooling around with Winamp3 and discovered that there is a Replay Gain plugin for it, similar to that in Media Center.  However, there was one nicer feature in it.  It had the option (along with a fixed adjustment) to NOT adjust files that were not analyzed.

This option is useful for many reasons.  Mainly, with me, I use the Fixed adjustment at about +9 to make the files louder, but then when I play a file that is not analyzed (such as video or radio/web stream) it is played at too loud of a volume.  Can you consider adding this?

Also, a little while back I was told that a Replay Gain option of maximizing to the peak value would be added, mainly to compensate for audio CDs being burned at too low of a level.  Thanks again!

I think it is a good idea to allow the user to change the [replay gain] property. Without this ability, it is really not possible to adjust the volume to every user's preference.
