User Privileges and Burning problems--help needed
« on: March 05, 2003, 06:42:19 am »

I'm still running the build from the other day (123). I had reported a problem in the bugs thread that the build didn't recognize my DVD-CDRW (a Toshiba SD-R1202). I've since done some more investigating.

A lot of the posts on the "New MJ Burner" thread have to do with messing around with settings that I can't seem to find any more (internal engine, ASPI, etc.), so that thread wasn't much help.

I downloaded the ASPI checker and found I have 4.6 correctly installed.

I then downloaded ASPI 4.7.1a2 and was about to install it when I realized I probably needed to be an Administrator to do it. Logged out & logged back in. (Win2k)

Just for kicks, I fired up MC9 and saw that when logged in as the Admin, MC recognized my burner!

Anyone have any idea what's going on? How can I get my normal "Power User" MC9 user to have access to the burner?

Best,
Brad

BUMP!!

This is still a problem for me. I have tried a couple of things:

1) Clean installation of MC9 (123). I used the uninstaller & also got rid of the registry entries with the uninstaller. I then used regedit and removed the leftover registry entries for "J River" in HKCU and HKLM.

I then reinstalled MC9. I still have the same problem. My normal user doesn't show my burner as installed.

2) I then tried upgrading the ASPI layer from 4.6 to 4.7.1a2. According to the ASPI utilities, everything is now installed & upgraded correctly. This also didn't help the burner problem...

<bended knees>
Any ideas on how to get burning back with MC9?
</bended knees>

Thanks,
Brad

I hate to keep bumping and replying to my own thread, but...

I upgraded to the latest "stable" MC9 (9.0.124). No luck here either.

Best,
Brad
