A question about Cloudplay tags
« on: August 19, 2022, 07:20:49 pm »

My basic question is: when I upload a playlist to Cloudplay, which of the my tags on the individual songs (if any) are preserved, and can be seen by those who might happen to enjoy my playlists?

More specifically, I use the medium sub-type tag specifically.  For example...

VLP12-33 is your plain vanilla vinyl album

VEP12-45 might be a vinyl EP from the new wave era of the 80's.

SS10-78 would be a shellac single from the Great Band Era.

Then there is the rating tag.  Does that survive a transition to a Cloudplay playlist?

Signed..
Curious.

From what I have seen, only a few tag fields will show in Cloudplay.  Song title, Artist, Album, and date for sure.

Don't think yours will show.

Thanks for your reply.

That is sort of my thinking as well.

I tried playing one of my playlists here, but Media Center (not surprisingly) seemed to be smart enough to use my local copies of tunes instead of the cloud's copies.  So I did see my tags.

That is a reason why I asked.  I wanted to know what others see of my tags.

Is there anywhere documentation that states definitely what tags are passed through the Cloudplay, for lack of a better phrase, indoctrination process?  (fwiw, "Cloudplay" is now in my browser's spell-check dictionary.. :) )

I am sure there is a solid process in place for accepting playlists.  What does that process do with tags?  And is it documented anywhere?
