Conversion suddenly stopped working

I often convert files offline with JRiver (now on MC28) via Tools - Advanced Tools - Convert Format. Worked like a charm. However since today -- not after some relevant change to the PC that I know of -- it stopped working. The progress bar becomes blue immediately, saying 'Conversion complete', but under Details it says 'Failed'. I tried different settings (PCM, DSD, DSP or no DSP, different destination folders, etc.) but nothing works.

Any idea what could cause this?

Disk full?  Check file locations in options.

Try rebooting.

Can you play the files?

Thanks, but I just found the cause: under File types I had flac files Playback set to 'External program (custom)' instead of 'Automatic' so that flacs are automatically played in HQPlayer. Changing it back to 'Automatic' solved it. In future I have to toggle that setting depending on my goal (conversion or playback in HQP).
