NEW: SSDP (Device Discovery) Tool
(1/1)
JimH:
Description
MC has used SSDP internally for many years, but we've now added a user level tool so you can see what MC sees. It's useful in situations where a device doesn't seem to be behaving.
Instructions
In the tree on the left, open Services & Plug-ins, then Media Network.
At the top, click on Device Discovery (SSDP)

It's user controlled, so you can see what MC sees.
It lets you search for devices on your network and it displays what it finds. Useful for solving problems that occur when a device isn't visible with MC's Playing Now. It also displays all IP addresses of the devices.
In other words, it will help you see when a device or its network isn't working right.
Clicking on the device expands it and double clicking on the Presentation URL loads Panel.

And you're correct. MC has used SSDP for a long time.
Edit: You can open a device, then click on the URL's to connect with Panel.

Thanks,
