Cannot type an ümlaut in MC?

Hello,

I am unable to key in an ümlaut character in MC29 for Mac. Why not? The simple Mac key strokes work in every other program I have tried...

Hold the OPTION (or alt) key down while pressing the letter u.
Then release and press the letter you want the umlaut over (a, o or u).

For whatever reason this is different in MC.
Hold down the letter key a bit longer and you get a list of special characters.
It's different and more awkward than normally but at least you get more options.
