First of all, the bog standard advice......
Back up your library if it's dear to you then uninstall MC. After uninstalling, reboot. Then pop into your program files folder and delete the JRiver directory. Next, run regedit and delete the JRiver keys found in HKLM > Software and the same in HKCU > Software.
Warning: Please be ultra careful when editing the registry, a mistake in there could wreck your windows installation. Make a back up 1st.
The registry editing is needed as choosing the option to remove registry entries in the uninstaller doesn't actually work atm.
Now re-install MC, set your preferences and instead of importing your backed up library (in case it's the problem) scan for files and start a new one.
Do the error messages persist?
If no...
then you're sorted, unless your library was indeed dear to you, in which case you import from the backup you made earlier. If the errors return, you'll have to bite the bullet and start from scratch with a new one.
If yes...
then we need to dig deeper for an answer. Assuming you are using XP with an administrator account, have a look for "administrative tools" in the control panel and open the Event Viewer. Have a look in the application and system logs for any clues about what's going on when MC "encounters its problem".
Finally, and maybe most importantly, it would be most helpful if you could open MC, click on "Help" then on "System Info"; click the copy to clipboard button, then paste it into the bottom of your next post.
This will go some way to helping you solve this problem, as I'm pretty sure that's an XP generated message, not an MC/MJ one, suggesting the problem *might* not lie with MC/MJ but with a system configuration or conflict somewhere else.
Hope the above is of some use to you. Let us know how you get on.
